Candle Care Tips
You might not think it, but once you bring a candle into your space you’ve entered into a relationship where reciprocity is key in receiving the full benefits of your alluring flame. Below are some tips on how to treat your candle in order to safely maximize the benefits it provides.
First impressions matter: Believe it or not, candle wax has memory meaning that it will “remember” the point at which the wax melted on the first burn for subsequent melts. Upon the first light, allow the melt pool to reach the sides of its container before extinguishing - typically up to 4 hours.
The long and short of it: Before each light, be sure to trim the wick 1/4” using either wick trimmers or scissors to reduce sooting and enjoy a long candle life.
Too hot to handle: Remove all flammable packaging before lighting your candle and be sure to place on a temperature safe surface.
When it’s a little drafty: Protect lit candles from indoor drafts and outdoor wind to prevent excess smoke and sooting.
Keep out of reach: Be sure to keep your lit candle a safe distance from curious kids and playful pets.
Don’t leave me alone: Always keep your lit candle within eyesight and be sure to extinguish the flame any time you leave the room.
